Batley and Liversedge schools closed due to Covid outbreaks

Fairfield School will reopen on November 30 following a 'circuit breaker' for two weeks to control infections.

A spokesman for Fairfield School said: "A decision has been made by the SLT, with the full support from the governing body and Public Health England, to close Fairfield School during a two-week circuit break (until November 27, 2020). This is due to the increase in positive cases that have impacted on the safe provision of both pupils and staff at Fairfield.

"The decision for the immediate closure was aimed at reducing any further risk of infection across the school.

"Fairfield School will reopen on Monday, November 30 2020."

A spokesman for Hightown Junior & Infant School said: "I have become aware in the past hour of another positive Covid-19 case in school.

"Having met with other school leaders and governors we have made the difficult decision to close school temporarily with immediate effect on health and safety grounds. This is something that we have tried to avoid but unfortunately the situation, current restrictions and school regulations leaves us with no choice.

"We will be in touch with you shortly with details of timescales, how we intend to continue to support your children’s learning and having spoken to the local authority have a clearer idea of support we can offer."
