As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Meat Drunkery, on Bradford Road, morphed into the Pink Drunkery last Saturday to raise money for Breast Cancer Now’s Wear It Pink campaign.
The special evening involved pink drinks, pink food, party games, a competition for the pinkest person, and a ‘sparkle tree’ raffle with six star prizes of a diamond necklace donated by business neighbour Robert Openshaw.
The bar will now be continuing its charitable efforts throughout the month as it hopes to raise another £500.
Owner Rachael Hutchison said: “The fundraiser was fantastic. We reached our target of £1,500 on the night thanks to everyone’s generosity.
“We are delighted at how the event went and are completely proud of being part of such a generous and heartfelt community that knows how to have a brilliant time while making a real difference. It is incredible.
“We are now continuing our fundraising until the end of October for Breast Cancer Now. We have pink cocktails on offer all month with a percentage from each sale going to charity.
“We also have a hamper full of goodies generously donated by local businesses from candles to gift vouchers - thanks to the Orange Peel, Glitterati, Box 11, Brooke and Bean, and Butterflies Beauty.
“Any other businesses wishing to donate can do so to help us reach our target!”
