Dewsbury hair clinic cut above rest after saving man from 'nightmare'

Luke Horsfield, 26, of Bradford, travelled to Turkey earlier last year for a six-hour major hair transplant operation, after being swayed by cut price of less than a quarter compared to the UK.

However, Mr Horsfield soon found his operation would fail leaving him with anxiety and stress, until Dewsbury transplant clinic Hair Dr, on Bradford Road, stepped in to repair his mangled mane free of charge.

Mr Horsfield said; “I chose to have my operation in Turkey in January 2019 because it cost £1,250 for 2,000 hair follicle compared to the UK where it would have cost £6,000.

“It was tempting but I soon found that you buy cheap - you buy twice.

“My operation was a nightmare.”

Mr Horsfield said his scalp was over-harvested, which involved follicular unit extraction (FUE) where thousands of hair follicles are harvested from the donor area at the back of the head in order to be placed along the top and front of the hairline where balding occurs.

Unfortunately, too many follicular units were taken from Mr Horsfield’s donor site, and lead to thinning hair around the donor site, bald patches around the donor site, and visible scar tissue around the donor site.

“I was approached by the Hair Dr who told me they would provide me with a new operation completely cost-free.

“I cannot express my gratitude to them.”

Mr Horsfield’s operation with the Hair Dr took place on March 2 and he said he’s already seen a vast improvement.

“It was a very stressful situation, but after the help I’ve received I’m already seeing the results as my hairline looks a lot thicker,” he said.

“For me, I want to highlight the fact if others are considering going for a hair transplant, the cheaper option isn’t always the better path to take.”

“I’ve seen cases where people have gone Turkey for a transplant and it’s worked, so maybe it’s the luck of the draw.

“I just feel people should think twice.”
