The 75kg brass statue was commissioned by Leeds businessmen Tony Clark, 44, and his brother Craig, 47, through their Batley-based company Trade Furniture.

After donating the statue to Leeds United, the club has decided to auction the statue back to a fan in a charity raffle.

The amazing story behind a life-sized Bielsa statue being donated to Leeds Unite...

Tony suffered with trauma and struggled with his mental health following the attack which he says 'never leaves his mind'.

His own experiences spurred him on to commission the Bielsa statue, which he says symbolises how football helped him through his darkest times.

Tony, an Elland Road season-ticket holder from Colton, said: “I choose Bielsa not just because of what he’s doing for Leeds United, but also because of his beliefs and everything he stands for.

“Football is a blow-off, it’s something to look forward to at the weekend if you’re working long shifts, from lorry drivers to people working in hospitals.

“It’s something that has given me hope throughout the last thirteen years and I hope that this way everyone can admire the piece, understand the story behind it and know there is hope after disaster.”

How to enter the raffle

To enter the raffle, you must make a £10 donation to MIND charity via Tony's JustGiving page.

Each £10 donated equals one entry.

Those who have previously made donations to Tony's MIND fundraiser are asked to email a copy of their donation receipt to [email protected] to be included in the raffle.

The raffle will close at 11.59pm on Tuesday, June 30 and the draw will take place on Wednesday, July 1.
