Win a top slot at Bingley music fest

Unsigned bands have been offered the chance to win a slot alongside Pet Shop Boys, Shed Seven and Example at this year’s Bingley Music Live festival.

Bands from across the county have been invited to enter the competition, where the winning band will find themselves rubbing shoulders with some of the UK’s top music artists.

Artists will have the chance to play one of two slots on the main stage at this year’s festivalm from August 29 to 31, and one of two slots on the second stage.

The competition is being run by Bingley Music Live fesval organisers and The Musicians Centre shop in Keighley, who will put together a shortlist of 24 applicants based on criteria including vocals, lyrics, arrangement and technical skill.

The first of four heats will take place on April 22, with performances from six of the shortlisted artists.

Two talented finalists from each heat will then go through to perform in the final on May 16 for the chance to join the line up.

The closing date for applications is April 11.

Coun Andrew Thornton, Bradford Council’s executive member for environment and sport, said: “This year’s Bingley Music Live is shaping up to be one of the best with a real eclectic mix of up coming artists and established bands.

“This competition has produced serious talent in the past and I’m sure that this year will be no exception.”
