Time for Batley Amateur Thespian Society to do the Lambeth Walk

Aristocrats and cockney charmers collide in Batley Amateur Thespian Society’s spring musical. The society, which celebrated its centenary last year, will perform Me and My Girl at Batley Town Hall in May.

The 1930s musical, written by Noel Gay, tells to the story of a cockney gent who discovers he is the new Earl of Hareford.

Bill Snibson is set to inherit great status and wealth — but can he betray his Lambeth roots and play the role of Earl? Will he leave his beloved Sally behind to pursue his destiny?

The award-winning show is known for its catchy numbers including The Lambeth Walk, The Sun Has Got Its Hat On and title song Me and My Girl.

In the Thespians’ production directed by Frank Hammond, Bill will be played by Daniel Mann and Sally by Gemma Fowler. The show is at Batley Town Hall from May 13 to May 16.
