Panto time kicks off!

Panto season officially opens at Theatre Royal Wakefield on Monday.

The cast of Jack and the Beanstalk are raring to take to the stage – and more than 22,000 tickets have already been sold.

Written by Chris Hannon, who also plays panto dame Tina Trumpington, Jack and The Beanstalk features a talented cast of seven actors including Wakefield actress Laura Pick, who was a member of the theatre’s own youth group Wakefield Youth Music Theatre for a number of years.

Laura made her professional stage debut in The Sound Of Music in Regents Park earlier this year after completing her musical theatre training at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in London.

She will play Jill alongside Harry Blumenau as Jack, Amy Bird as Sue Chef, Nathan Taylor as Ghastly Gordon, Mark Stratton as Duke Box, Catherine Terry as Wendy/Dotty) and Chris Hannon.

Murray Edwards, executive director at the theatre, said: “We have built up a reputation over the last seven years for our fantastic pantomime which offers all the magic and excitement you would expect with amazing sets, costumes and music while retaining value for money.

“We are delighted to welcome back Chris Hannon who has been our dame for three years now and has proved very popular with Wakefield audiences.
