Jack and The Beanstalk is in a class of its own when it comes to putting on a fantastic show for the whole family.

It doesn’t need to rely on celebrity names to bring in the crowds – in fact, it makes a joke of it.

Writer Peter Rowe has packed this year’s script with hilarious puns, innuendo and slapstick which rarely miss the mark.

And the production team has clearly relished the challenge of creating everything from a pair of vastly over-sized shoes for the giant’s tiny wife to clomp about in to the ridiculous ‘Barbie-queue’ to be given by Dame Dolly to Jack and Jill on their big day.

Simon Nock’s Dame Dolly was undoubtedly the star of the show with superb comic delivery and a rendition of Mercy that had members of the audience at Leeds City Varieties howling.

Hollie Cassar packed a punch as the fiesty Fairy Aubergine, while Robin Johnson was great fun as the giant’s sinister sidekick Fleshcreep.

The fact the cast also forms the live band for the show, performing tracks including Lady Marmalade and It Takes Two, just makes it all the more impressive.

Catch this talented team – and the inflatable boulders – in action while you can!
