Art and Design in Textiles has been put on by pupils at St John Fisher Catholic High School.

Using embroidery, weaving, print and dye-work skills, pupils have created pieces for their A-levels, most of it using recycled materials.

The A-level exhibition is usually held at the school, but textiles teacher Jill Riordan wanted to share their work with a wider audience. She said: “It’s great for them to see their work in the community and get feedback from people – which has been really positive.” The event has been supported by Dewsbury Town Team.

John Dennehy, from the town team, said: “Innovation and design in textiles is part of the town’s heritage and this exhibition shows that ideas and skills still thrive here in the younger generation.”
