Texas will take to the stage at the 5,000 capacity Millennium Square, Leeds.

The gig, featuring lead singer Sharleen Spiteri, will follow the release of new album Texas 25, which looks back over the band’s career and includes four new songs.

“The plan is that this will lead onto a big Texas, all-singing, all-dancing, get ready to put your hands in the air journey.”

The concert has been organised by Easy Theatres.

Its managing director, Michael Taylor, said: “Sharleen is renowned as one of the greatest modern British front-women.

“So as well as enjoying everyone’s favourite Texas hit songs performed live, we’re looking forward to a fabulous evening in the company of their lead singer, entertaining a capacity crowd in her own inimitable style.”

Leeds City Council executive member for culture Coun Lucinda Yeadon said: “This really is a night not to be missed and we can’t wait to give Sharleen and the band a real Leeds welcome as part of our exciting summer series of concerts on Millennium Square.

“As a fan, I have to admit I’m certainly looking forward to seeing Texas light up Leeds!”

The band, whose other singles include Say What You Want, Black Eyed Boy, Summer Son, I Don’t Want a Lover and Halo have sold 37m records worldwide.

The gig will take place Friday July 31, 7.30pm with gates opening at 6pm.
