Ahead of the screening, fans of the legendary indie band will see footage of the red carpet premiere broadcast live via satellite to the Showcase screen, and witness the band make a rare public appearance alongside Shane Meadows, with the director answering fan questions in a live Q&A.

The Stone Roses: Made of Stone is a revealing journey through the life of one of the most revered and influential bands in British music history. The documentary will incorporate never-before-seen footage from the past 25 years and unparalleled access to the record-breaking sell-out concerts which took place in summer 2012 at Manchester’s Heaton Park after the band’s 16 year hiatus.

Acclaimed filmmaker Shane Meadows, the director behind This Is England, brings his unique directorial style, humour and emotional depth to the film, capturing the band at work and in their everyday lives as they rehearsed for their much-anticipated reunion, on their home turf in Manchester in front of 220,000 fans.

“Making this film, I got to be part of something truly remarkable, the double decade awaited ‘resurrection’ of my all time favourite band, The Stone Roses,” he said.

“People say that you can’t recapture your youth, it’ll never be the same the second time round etc, but that’s utter rubbish. The Roses were never allowed to reach their peak first time around so as far as I and millions of fans around the world were concerned, with this comeback the Roses could be even greater.”

The Stone Roses formed in Manchester in 1983. The band’s most successful line up was with vocalist Ian Brown, guitarist John Squire, bassist Gary “Mani” Mounfield, and drummer Alan “Reni” Wren. They were one of the pioneering groups of the Madchester movement that was active during the late 1980s and early 1990s and won instant acclaim with their breakthrough album, The Stone Roses, in 1989.

Stone Roses fans can catch the ultimate behind the scenes documentary plus live red carpet footage with The Stone Roses: Made of Stone at Showcase Leeds on Thursday, May 30.
