Review: The Mousetrap at Leeds Grand Theatre
Richard Attenborough, who died on Sunday, appeared in The Mousetrap’s original 1952 theatre run and was the first to customarily ask audiences not to reveal to others who the murderer is in this pioneering ‘whodunit’.
They clearly obliged, because with the play now in its 62nd year, the Leeds Grand audience was still guessing and gasping until the final moments of this UK tour’s opening night .
Mollie and Giles Ralston have just opened a secluded guesthouse, but events take a sinister turn when, snowed-in and cut-off, one creepy guest arrives after another, each with their own possible link to a murder in London.

Christopher Gilling, who plays Major Metcalf, has a particular knack for well-delivered deadpan lines to alleviate the moments of peril.
