Real ale and real music

The pub, in Commercial Street, Batley, is hosting a ale and music weekend packed with live acts and the best beers.

The mini festival will see acts performing in the car park as well as on its indoor stage, with sponsors Pennine Brewery also setting up a bar outdoors.

The Batley brewery, based on Grange Road, is also providing a hog roast for revellers.

The weekend will kick off with a tea-time barbecue and music from Braveface and George Watson on Friday August 24.

Then on Saturday August 25, acts will take to the stage from 2pm, complemented by the Pennine bar and hog roast.

Acoustic and folk performers on the bill include Dan Burnett, Mark Jarvis, High Hollers, Lucky Boy Browne, Andrei Nosov Band, Dariush Kanani, Tenzin Haarhaus and more.

On Sunday August 26, homegrown talent is encouraged to take the mic from noon as Nadeem Leigh of Lucky Boy Browne hosts an open mic day.

Then to round off the bank holiday weekend, BBC Radio Leeds favourite Chris Berry will play a teatime set beginning at 5pm on Monday August 27.

The four-day ale and music event is free to all and promises great music in an intimate setting in a bid to put Batley on the musical map.
