Play that funky music

FROM folk to funk, the village of Holmfirth is shaking off its sleepy-hollow image as it prepares to host its very first Festival of Funk this weekend.

The three-day festival starts on April 27 at the Picturedrome with a feast of funk – a fusion of soul, rock, R&B and jazz, with the legendary James Brown cited as one of its founding fathers.

Kicking off the events on Friday April 27 is internationally-renowned jazz musician Dennis ‘Badbone’ Rollins, followed by a DJ set from UK champion of soul and funk, Craig Charles - former Coronation Street actor and host of the popular BBC Radio 6 Music Funk and Soul Show.
