Orchestra of Opera North to hold Kirklees season previews

Two special previews of the forthcoming season of orchestral concerts with the Orchestra of Opera North in Kirklees are to be held in July.

These annual preview evenings have become popular over the years, giving regular concert-goers the opportunity to gain an insight into what to expect in the new season.

Previews will take place on Tuesday at Huddersfield Town Hall and again on Wednesday at Dewsbury Town Hall. Both events will start at 7.30pm.

The previews are free to all subscribers and those interested in becoming subscribers. Music during the evening’s events will be provided by violinist and leader of the Orchestra of Opera North David Greed, and pianist Ian Buckle who is a soloist, accompanist, chamber musician, orchestral pianist and teacher.

The programmes will be introduced by Opera North’s music director Richard Farnes and organist Gordon Stewart.

Richard has been music director at Opera North since 2004 and has conducted productions at the Royal Opera House, English National Opera, Scottish Opera, English Touring Opera, Glyndebourne Festival Opera and Glyndebourne. Gordon is one of the UK’s most popular and adaptable organists.

The introduction of the programmes will last for just over an hour and there will be a chance for visitors to chat informally with the presenters.

Tickets for performances will not be for sale at the events but you can renew your subscription and choose seats.
