The community cast will be performing at the West Yorkshire Playhouse next month after undergoing intensive training to appear in Ooh La La... It’s Bollywood.

Zoobin, who trained in classical Indian dance in Mumbai, said: “Everyone is working very hard. It is a huge stage.”

Zoobin, who is a Cultural Arts Ambassador for South Asian Arts, concocted the idea as a way of engaging different communities.

It is also an ideal platform to celebrate 100 years of the Indian film industry.

“There is so little Indian dance in the North,” said Zoobin, who is also developing a unique choreography for the show with the Northern School of Contemporary Dance. The piece, involving more than 120 dancers, is called Hindividuality.

Zoobin has gained critical acclaim over the years for shows such as Bollywood Jane, also at West Yorkshire Playhouse, as well as leading the successful Karma Dance Group.
