Northern Ballet offer audiences the opportunity to ‘try before you buy’

Northern Ballet is offering audiences the opportunity to go behind the scenes of one of the UK’s best loved ballet companies at a free ‘try before you buy’ rehearsal room event at its headquarters on Quarry Hill in Leeds.

Billed as being the perfect treat for ballet lovers or an introduction to it for ballet virgins, the rehearsal event on Wednesday, August 14 from 5.40pm-6pm offers the chance to enjoy a sneak preview of Northern Ballet’s latest production A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

The event is an opportunity to get a taste for the production and to see Northern Ballet’s dancers up close. Attendees will also receive a complimentary glass of wine or soft drink and a voucher for a free programme, worth £5, redeemable at the West Yorkshire Playhouse when attending any performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream from September 6-14.

Mark Skipper, Northern Ballet Chief Executive, said: “We are delighted to offer audiences the opportunity to go behind the scenes at Northern Ballet and experience the rehearsal process.

“This is a great opportunity for people to sample A Midsummer Night’s Dream and see for themselves the transformation that takes place during a ballet’s journey from the rehearsal room to the stage. We are proud of our reputation for producing ballets that reach diverse audiences and we are committed to opening up opportunities for as many people as possible to experience our work.”

The event is ticket only and prior booking is essential. Tickets for the event can be obtained by calling the Northern Ballet Box Office on 0113 2208008 or by visiting northernballet.com/midsummer.

In Northern Ballet’s adaptation of the Shakespeare classic, directed by David Nixon and co-directed by Patricia Doyle, the romantic antics of a touring dance company are played out as it travels by sleeper train from London to Edinburgh.
