Preparations for a nautical-themed 28th Cleckheaton Folk Festival are now well under way.

The roster for this year’s event boasts the legendary Martin Carthy, Artisan, Belshazzar’s Feast and The Young’Uns among many more.

Festival administrator Janice Minich said: “We usually have a theme running through each year.

“We decided on the nautical theme because that’s the first one that we went with many years ago.”

It also reflects many of the artists who are appearing, Janice said, with sea shanty performers aplenty.

“So anybody that wants to come down dressed in a nautical fashion will be welcome to do so!” she added.

The festival takes place from July 3-5, with main acts appearing at Spenborough Town Hall. Many fringe events will also take place throughout the town.

Organisers want to remind people that tickets, at various prices, are now on sale. Book at
