Lawrence Batley Theatre announces new season shows

Highlights will include the theatre’s Imagine series, which introduces young children to theatre, dance and music – including the Christmas show The Boy Who Cried Wolf (December 12-28).

For Halloween, the Shuddersfield Ghost Trail (October 31) and Little Frankenstein (October 31 – November 1) are something that every little horror should enjoy.

For drama lovers, the Performance season is brimming with unmissable theatre. Antigone (October 15-18) is a new version of Sophocles’ classic Greek tragedy, bringing a story about what happens when one person stands against the rules into the 21st century.

England Arise (October 24-25) is a powerful story about the young men and women of Huddersfield, their belief in a better world and the conscientious objections to the First World War.

Written by Boff Whalley, Red Ladder Theatre Company’s We’re Not Going Back (26 September,) delves into the 1980s miners’ strike with humour, songs and a story of the resilience of working communities.

The Opera series will feature the English premiere of a new version of the Bizet masterpiece Carmen (September 13). Ruby Wax, Dave Spikey and Jason Byrne make up the Huddersfield theatre’s comedy season.
