Holmfirth Film Festival makes a French Connection

Film buffs from around the country will hit the Holme Valley this month as the fifth Holmfirth Film Festival gets under way this month - with a Tour de France twist.

Eighty films and documentaries will be shown in venues such as Holmfirth Picturedrome and a truck which will be converted into a mobile cinema at Sands Recreational Park - from Friday May 23.

The organisers of the week-long event have put an emphasis on award-winning French cinema and cycling films to celebrate the upcoming kick-off to the Tour de France in Yorkshire.

And as part of the arts and culture programme the 100 Day Yorkshire Festival, which leads upto the Grand Depart, it will also boast specially-commisisoned music soundtrack events on the theme of cycling, with pieces by Barry Russell and David Hirst.
