Full steam ahead for exhibition incelebration of model railways

Model railway enthusiasts can look forward to demonstrations, advice from the experts and an array of layouts when a show is held for the third time.

Dewsbury Model Railway Show will take place at The Trinity Community Centre in Batley Carr on Saturday November 16.

The event, organised by St Peter’s Church in Earlsheaton, is being held at the centre for the second year running to allow space for more displays.

It is hoped as many as 600 people will visit the event from across the region.

Organiser David Lenners said: “We’ll have model railways from post war years, like the Hornby Dublo 3 Rail right up to the modern diesel aspect of current railways.”

The show will feature at lest 20 layouts, including a Lego layout and a ‘kids drive yourself’ layout for young visitors.

There will be demonstrations of model skills and model making as well as trade stalls run by businesses from Morley, Huddersfield and Manchester.

The event is also being supported by North Yorkshire Moors Railway and Kirklees Light Railway, who will have representatives at the show.

This year’s event has won funding from Dewsbury Area Committee plus sponsorship from Beds Direct and NL Van, Truck and Car Hire.

It will take place at the centre in Upper Road, 10am-4pm. Entry costs £3 for adults and is free for children under 12.
