From Russia to Kirklees with love

The Orchestra of Opera North welcomes two world-class artists renowned for their interpretations of this music, conductor Pablo González and pianist Kathryn Stott, for a compelling evening of music making at Huddersfield Town Hall.

Opera North’s evening is one high drama including two of the great orchestral showpieces of all time, Rimsky-Korsakov’s Sheherazade, based on the story of The Arabian and Glinka’s Overture to Russlan and Ludmilla. At the heart of the programme is Rachmaninov’s final concerto, an intricate masterpiece influenced by American jazz.

Yorkshire resident Kathryn Stott is recognised internationally as one of Britain’s most versatile and engaging pianists since winning the Leeds International Piano Competition in 1978.

Spanish born maestro Pablo González is a prolific conductor, having worked with a multitude of European orchestras including Netherlands Philharmonic, Orchestra della Swizzera Italia and London Symphony Orchestra.

This year, the Kirklees Concert Season is introducing a Kids for a Quid offer where under 16s can enjoy any concert for £1 when accompanied by an adult, ensuring the whole family can enjoy word-class live classical music.

Russian Masters is at the town hall on September 20 at 7.30pm.
