Insomnia and the different masks people wear during their lives are explored in a playful mixed media exhibition at Dewsbury Museum.

Christine Anderson’s Before Now, which includes paper and fabric with lino print, crochet and stitch pieces, is on display in Crow Nest Park until April 17.

The works use fantasy and fairytale elements of animal heads and gingerbread men to explore surreal experiences in real life.

Christine said: “I think the ideas linked to insomnia come from the experience of lying awake and trying to sleep, it’s like entering a fantasy, your mind wanders and you lose a sense of logic, everything seems more dramatic.

“And the masks represent the different things people can be to different people in their lives.”

Christine, from Meltham, will follow the exhibition with another at Marsden’s Enjoy Art gallery, which will run April 2-April 26.
