The Grand Opera of Belarus, which was established in 1933 under the former Soviet Union, presents Madame Butterfly and La Boheme at the Victoria Theatre next week.

Madame Butterfly tells the story of a trusting Japanese maiden who catches the attention and affections of an American officer.

In order to become his bride she must cross cultural boundaries and defy the will of her family.

Alone, she faithfully awaits his return.

However, she has a serious dilemma at her hands.

Puccini’s La Boheme is a passionate story of love at first sight.

Set in 19th century Paris, it follows the tale of the love between Mimi and Rodolfo and their friends.

The young, struggling artists face the hardships of relationships and life.

They soon realise that love cannot conquer all.

La Boheme is on stage on Thursday at 7.30pm.

Madame Butterfly is on stage on Friday at the same time.

Tickets for either show are £23-£32 with concessions available.

A discount of £5 is available when booking for both shows.
