Bob, who worked on dozens of murder enquiries for West Yorkshire Police, and his wife Carol, who worked for the police in a civilian role, are the authors behind crime novels Deadly Focus, Consequences and White Lillies, set in the fictional Yorkshire town of Harrowfield.

Carol said: “It’s amazing to be working with a BAFTA winning team at Red Productions. From being fans of Scott and Bailey, to now getting to work on police storylines with true professionals, is fantastic.

“We pride ourselves in correct police procedure in our DI Dylan books and to be able to do that on our favourite police TV series is a dream come true.

“So many production companies don’t do what Red do and make sure police procedure is correct and this is not only a great shame for the viewer but also lets their series down in police officers eyes.”

The couple will be working alongside actresses Amelia Bullmore, Suranne Jones and Lesley Sharp, who play three members of Manchester’s Major Incident Team. Their latest novel Snow Kills will be released in November.
