Beauty and the Beast brings Disney magic to the panto season
Rehearsals are well under way for this pantomime version of the ever-popular Disney show. There will be the usual colourful characters like the Dame played by Batley Amateur Thespians’ Chris Sheard, ‘her’ mischievous son Jacques portrayed by the well-known local lad John Murphy, a wicked enchantress, an immortal flower fairy, some rather vicious sisters, a couple of beauticians, a handsome prince, a beautiful young girl and of course, perhaps the most important character – the Beast. There are also plenty of other characters who are key to the story.
Putting the cast through their paces is the producer is Pete Forsyth. Musical director Jill Lambert is rehearsing the company in the many songs, both old and new which will delight the audiences. Philippa Gibson is choreographing the dancers.
