Aladdin panto to be a side-splitter

A genie, a camel and a classic pantomime dame are sure to draw fun-seeking families to the Carlinghow Theatre Company’s latest production.

They will perform Aladdin at Batley Town Hall from January 9, with 20 kids aged eight-18, and around 15 adults singing, dancing and acting.

It is chairwoman Jane Griffin’s second time writing a panto and fifth directing. Choreographer Amanda Eyre is Aladdin and Nigel Dixon returns as Widow Twanky.

Mrs Griffin said: “It’s a traditional family pantomime. It’s a coming together of a lot of different talents and it’s fabulous for people to be able to go to a local venue.

“We pride ourselves on being a professional outfit and will strive to be the best we can.

“The best kick I get is sitting in the audience and seeing peoples’ reactions. If they’re laughing, I’m laughing!”

And fan favourite Camela the camel will also be making a return. “Kids like it and it’s a bit of fun,” said Mrs Griffin.
