Step inside a fairytale world with a difference with Dewsbury Arts Group later this month.
The theatre group’s latest production, Red Riding Hood and Robin, promises families plenty of laughs.
Its pre-Christmas plays have become a popular part of the annual programme, aiming to entertain children, parents and grandparents alike.
Written by local playwright David Foxton, this year’s play is a re-working of the well known story of the little girl taking goodies to her poorly grandmother.
But what if the ‘goodies’ are stolen goods, and the wolf is not the big bad monster she expected but a much nicer and bewildered guy? And what is Goldilocks doing confusing everyone anyway?!
Fortunately, her younger brother Robin and his invisible gang are on hand to sort matters out.
Fittingly for a play aimed at families, Red Riding Hood and Robin is also a chance for younger talents to shine.
Members of Dewsbury Arts Group’s youth theatre will take on many of the lead roles with Millie Collins as Red Riding Hood, Freddie Purdy as Robin, Megan Wright as Goldilocks and Matthew Bailey as Wolf.
The show is at the group’s studio theatre in Lower Peel Street, Dewsbury, from November 23 to November 30 (excluding November 24).
Performances are at 7.15pm with Saturday matinees at 2.15pm. Tickets can be booked on 01924 465647.
