St John Fisher and Manor Croft bid to reach finals

Manor Croft and St John Fisher schools each have two representatives in this season’s Champion Schools Yorkshire Cup semi-finals.

St John Fisher’s Year 7 and Year 9 teams were both due to play Castleford Academy in their semi-finals on Tuesday at Castleford Panthers.

Manor Croft’s Year 8 team face Malet Lambert school of Hull next Thursday (January 21), while the Year 11 team also face Humberside opposition in Sirius Academy on a date to be arranged.

The Yorkshire Cup finals with be played at Castleford Tigers’ Mend-A-Hose Jungle, with the winners going on to represent the county in the National Schools competition.

The Year 7 and 9 finals take place on Tuesday April 12, the Year 11 final is on Wednesday April 13, with the Year 8 and 10 finals on Thursday April 14.

Year 7 (at Castleford Panthers ARLFC): Castleford Academy (Wakefield) v St John Fisher (Kirklees), Corpus Christi (Leeds) v Carleton (Wakefield) – both played on Tuesday

Year 8: Malet Lambert (Hull) v Manor Croft (Kirklees), Outwood Grange (Wakefield) v Brooksbank (Calderdale) – to be played on Thursday January 21, kick off 1pm.

Year 9 (At Castleford Panthers ARLFC): St Wilfrid’s (Wakefield) v Winifred Holtby (Hull), St John Fisher (Kirklees) v Castleford Academy (Wakefield) – both played on Tuesday January 12.

Year 10: Brooksbank (Calderdale) v St Wilfrid’s (Wakefield), Castleford Academy (Wakefield) v Ryburn (Calderdale) – to be played on Thursday January 21, kick off.

Year 11: Castleford Academy (Wakefield) v York High School (North Yorkshire) – Played Wednesday January 13, Sirius Academy (Hull) v Manor Croft (Kirklees) – Date to be arranged.
