Scholes Pyle the misery on Fields

SCHOLES are seven points clear of the drop zone in Central Yorkshire Division Three following a victory and defeat last weekend.

Andrew Spencer (65) and Andrew Shingleton (66) starred in Scholes’ total of 180-3 as they hosted high flying Northowram Fields A on Saturday.

Allan Pyle then returned sensational figures of 7-36 to limit Fields to 154-9.

Sunday’s short visit to Hunslet Nelson A was not so successful for Scholes, whose 130 all out was easily eclipsed by Nelson’s 133-5.

Bottom side Hopton Mills A’s quest for victory continues following another disappointing weekend of action.

Title chasing Westwood Park romped to 266-6 in Saturday’s clash but Mills could muster only 68 in their reply.

Hopton Mills posted 73 in their home game against Adwalton 24 hours later and the visitors hit 74-3 to take the spoils.

Moorlands A enjoyed an eight-wicket win at Gildersome A on Saturday, Daniel Pauley (4-26) and Ian Lay (4-20) accounting for Gildersome on 68 before the visitors cruised to 69-2.

But Sunday was less successful and although Lay hit 69 to propel Moorlands to 156, visitors New Farnley held out to register 157-7.

Liversedge A held on to their position in the top two of Division 4 with important wins.

Russell Clarke’s 72 stood out as Liversedge hit 188-9 in their clash with promotion rivals Adwalton on Saturday.

Adam Clarke (3-41) and James Ives (3-21) kept Adwalton at bay in their 109-8.

Liversedge made it two wins from two on Sunday, as they won by five wickets at home to East Leeds.

Simon Trevitt’s 4-11 sent Leeds back to pavilion on 121 and Jonathan Newsome (63) led the hosts to 123-5.

Mirfield A bagged a 63-run home win over Westwood Park A only to suffer a 10-wicket loss at leaders Oulton a day later.

Mirfield hit 127 on Saturday and Park were demolished for 64 with Andrew Lenk (3-32) and Asad Kazmi (3-12) leading the attack.

But Mirfield’s 64 was never going to be enough at Oulton, with the hosts easing to 65 without loss.
