Mount ended a poor run of form in the Huddersfield Central League Premier Section, defeating Cartworth Moor by 86 runs.

Victory leaves Mount second in the table behind leaders Thurstonland, who gained a seven-wicket win over Heckmondwike & Carlinghow.

Mount posted a respectable 258-8 against Cartworth Moor as Muzafar Pathan led the way with a top score of 74.

The visitors never looked like chasing down the total but attempted to bat out and secure a point.

Hasan Patel claimed 5-21 and Cartworth were dismissed for 172 as Mount collected six valuable points in their title quest.

Usman Qureshi (36), Fahad Imam (28) and Martin Waldron (21) impressed for Heckmondwike & Carlinghow but they were bowled out for 154 as M Askham (4-10) and T Broom (3-18) shone for Thurstonland.

Askham followed up his bowling efforts by top scoring with 60 in reply and he was well supported by N Appleyard (56no) as Thurstonland remained top of the table.

Mount will travel to Penistone on Saturday, aiming to keep the pressure on leaders Thurstonland, who entertain Woolley.

Heckmondwike & Carlinghow will be looking to emulate Mount’s success last week when they travel to Cartworth Moor.
