Dewsbury Rams have signed highly rated young full-back Josh Guzdek from Super League outfit Hull KR.
Guzdek made three Super League appearances for Hull KR and scored a try just two minutes into his debut before injury limited his opportunities.
The 20-year-old had spells on loan at Newcastle Thunder and Coventry Bears before ending the campaign with a spell at Keighley Cougars.
Guzdek scored six tries in seven appearances as he helped the Cougars reach last Sunday’s League One Grand Final, when Keighley suffered an agonising 29-28 defeat to Swinton Lions.
Guzdek becomes the fifth Rams signing, joining Tony Tonks, Sam Bates, Matt Groat and Dominic Speakman who were announced at last week’s Fans Forum as coach Glenn Morrison looks to build a squad capable of challenging in the Kingstone Press Championship.
Morrison is looking forward to seeing Guzdek pull on a Rams shirt and said: ““He’s a young full back, who I saw play a number of Super League games for Hull KR.
“He was unfortunate last year to pick up an injury, but he got himself fixed up this year and managed to play a couple of Super League games.
“He ended up at Keighley, where I’ve kept close tabs on him, and he’s been really outstanding for them, coming up with a couple of hat-tricks and Man of the Match performances.”
