Nine runners from Spenborough Athletics Club took part in the London Marathon last Sunday.
In ideal conditions for running most ran their fastest times for the distance.
Kevin Ogden was the first Spenborough runner to finish in a time of two hours 44 minutes 35 seconds; just seven seconds short of his best time. Kevin was 339th man in the race.
Dean Pearce completed the distance 20 minutes faster than he has ever done in a time of three hours nine minutes 45 secs to finish 1886th. Next to finish was Ian Ogden in a personal best time of three hours 15 minutes 13 seconds in 2428th.
Robert Moon had a fine debut run in 3-36-20. Alex Boryslawsky ran his fastest time in 3-43-57s ahead of Samantha Boryslawsky in 3-53-25, another personal best time.
Other Spen runners to beat the four hour time were Edward Wilkinson 3-57-29 and Hazel Pike 3-59-21, both achieved their best times.
Suzanne Plimley finished her first marathon in 4-13-36. This is the best club performance in a marathon in recent years and is a credit to the months of training that the athletes have put in on the track at the Princess Mary Stadium and on the roads around Cleckheaton.
