Giants bound Pinder scoops prestigious Sullivan award at Sharks presentation

The award was created by Mick’s family for the club to present annually.

Mick Sullivan is one of the legends of Rugby League and a member of the Hall of Fame.

Shaw Cross club chairman Chris Smith noted Sullivan’s career highlights, including his record of 46 Great Britain appearances during which he scored 43 tries.

Mick began his career at Shaw Cross and Douglas Hird recalled his sporting prowess as a youngster, in athletics, swimming and rugby.

He represented England at Rugby Union before signing for Huddersfield aged 18.

Mick’s daughter Michelle Sullivan was delighted to present the trophy to Josh and thanked the club for keeping alive the memory of her father, who sadly passed away in April.

Josh is a former Manor Croft student and was honoured to receive the award and follow in Sullivan’s footsteps as is he has signed a three year deal with Huddersfield Giants and becomes the latest Sharks player to sign professional terms.

He has represented England this season and has the potential to become a future Super League player and everyone at the Shaw Cross club wishes him well for the future.

First team back of the year was Will Gledhill, forward of the year went to John Rourke and young player of the year was Brandan French.

Players player went to Jake Dooner and player of the year was Sam Ottewell.

Sharks A team forward of the year was Benjamin Spaven, back of the year went to Jamie Searby, Thomas Stuckey scooped players player and player of the year went to Tom Shaw.

Clubman of the year was shared by committee member Robert Consterdine and head coach Brett Turner.
