Stunning fightback sees Sedge earn draw

LIVERSEDGE produced a stunning fightback on Tuesday to grab a share of the spoils in an entertaining 4-4 draw against Heanor Town in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division.

Sedge found themselves 3-1 down after a poor first half and they appeared to be heading for a heavy defeat after conceding a fourth goal after 53 minutes.

However, Eric Gilchrist’s men refused to lie down and pulled two goals back before Keiran Corley grabbed an equaliser deep into stoppage time.

Heanor made the long evening trip from Derbyshire but showed no effects of the journey as they opened the scoring after just four minutes.

Matthew Bugg continued his fine form with an equaliser only for Sedge to fall 2-1 down after 11 minutes.

Town added two more either side of half-time as they looked on course for victory.

Jarrod Peltier gave Sedge hope, pulling one back just after the hour mark, before Luke Richardson set up a grandstand finish, reducing the deficit to 4-3.

It appeared Heanor would hold on for all three points but Corley struck with a 93rd minute equaliser as Liversedge rescued a point which leaves them 12th in he table.
