RAVENSTHORPE Bulls will have enjoyed their Saturday night after getting the better of their pub-mates Bulls Head Dewsbury in last week’s Spen Valley League Premier Division clash.

Both sides run from the Bulls Head pub in Ravensthorpe and it was the Bulls who earned the bragging rights with a 9-2 victory.

Paul Beaumont led the way, bagging five goals, while Jamie Simpson, Dominic Simpson, Tomosz Bieg and Matt Ramskill struck for the winners, with Mo Shoaib grabbing one of the consolation goals.

Victory leaves the Bulls third but with games in hand on the two sides above them.

Leaders ALC are eight points clear of the Ravensthorpe men but have played four games more.

They earned a resounding 8-1 win over Heckmondwike Sports last Saturday as Adam Irving bagged five goals, while Ashley Muff, Craig Robson and Sam Ratcliffe netted the others.

Luke Barraclough hit Heckmondwike’s consolation.

Soothill are second, five points clear of Ravensthorpe having played two games more.

They sealed a 7-2 win at Howden Clough as Rafa (hat-trick), Johnny Beverley (brace), Ashley Parkinson and Tom Yarnold all struck.

A third player to score five goals last week was Shoaib Hussain as he helped Fairbank reserves to a 7-1 win at Cleckheaton Sporting.

Rehmet Vafa converted a penalty and Waqas Khan also struck for Fairbank, with Dom Williams replying for Cleckheaton.

Inter Batley and Norfolk battled out a 2-2 draw. Sulyman Variava was among Inter’s scorers but Norfolk earned a point thanks to goals from Kyle Audsley and Ilyas Lunat.

Savile United suffered a 3-1 defeat at home to BD3 United Reserves, who had Talat Mahmood, Sukhdeeep Singh and Syeed Hussain (penalty) on target,

Savile Youth edged out bottom side Girlington as they moved up to sixth place in the Premier Division.

The sides were locked 3-3 at half-time but although Mohd Junayd bagged a hat-trick for Girlington, who also had Rehan Butt on target, Savile Youth took the spoils with a 6-4 win.

Marsh moved up to fifth after edging out second-bottom Ravensthorpe Rangers 2-1 with goals from Mark Wigley and Donny Stocks, while Vision’s trip to Bradford fell victim to the weather.
