Hanging Heaton eased to a 119-run win over Bowling Old Lane in last Sunday’s shield semi-final.

Horner was part of the successful Heaton shield winning sides of 2003, 2009, 2013 and 2014 and will now target a fifth success in the second team showpiece.

Consistent batting from Francis Nelson (45), Chris Goodair (36no), Adeel Hafeez (33), Oliver Newton (32) and Stephen Bourne (30) helped Heaton to build a match-winning score of 246-6.

Adam Zahid (2-35) was the best of the Old Lane bowlers but the home side never looked like threatening the score as they lost wickets at regular intervals as spinner Jamie Baulk (4-20) and Oliver Newton (3-13) impressed.

Woodlands found conditions to their liking at Red Lane as they made 301-4.

Liam Collins hit three sixes and 13 fours in his 95, while Cieran Garner (84), Jack Bleazard (59no) and Robert Medcalf (30no) also impressed.
