East Bierley book Shield quarter-final spot

East Bierley booked their place in the Priestley Shield quarter-finals after beating Morley on a faster scoring rate in last Sunday's rescheduled second round tie.

James Higgins hit 53 as East Bierley were dismissed for 122 in 29.3 overs. Morley captain Graeme Roberts took 4-16.

Morley batted for 17 overs before the rain halted their reply with the score on 62-6, leaving Bierley the winners on run rate.

Bierley now visit Hanging Heaton in Sunday’s quarter-final.

Bowling Old Lane secured an away quarter-final at Idle after brushing aside Birstall by nine wickets.

Birstall’s batsmen struggled against the bowling of Ahsan Alishan (4-8) and Sajid Khan (4-21) as they were dismissed for 52 in 38 overs.

David Fozard (29no) made half his side’s runs before Old Lane took just 8.1 overs to secure victory

Ossett reached the last eight with a 128-run win over Wakefield St Michael’s.

They made 213-5 in 30 overs with Matthew Wood making 37 not out and Nohman Hussain (31).

St Michael’s were dismissed for 85 with Conor Andrews taking 3-16 as Ossett set up a trip to Farsley, who progressed after defeating Lightcliffe 4-3 in a bowl out.

Farsley made 158 in 36.4 overs but only four overs over the reply were possible before rain halted Lightcliffe on 17-0, forcing the tie to be decided on a bowl out.

Woodlands will visit Cleckheaton in the other quarter-final after Azaad conceded the second round tie when their pitch was not fit for play.
