TALENTED Normanton Knights player Tom Battye has been included in the England Lions U18s squad to face their Wales counterparts this weekend.

Lions head coach Kelvin Lockett named his 18-man squad, from an initial pool of 26 players, today ahead of the international clash at Leigh Miners Rangers on Saturday (kick-off 2.30pm).

Battye has got the nod to feature and Dewsbury Celtic also have two players included in Joe Batchelor and Nathan Lawrence.

Lockett said: “We’ve had some good games against Wales in the past and I’m sure this one will be no different.

“I’m expecting them to be a very competitive side and they had a good hit-out against Scotland last week so will be well prepared.

“Our own preparations have gone well and I’m very happy with the way our training sessions have gone. Saturday’s game will be a big test for us but we’re all really looking forward to it.”

The 26-man Lions squad will also play a touring Australian Institute of Sport side on Wednesday, December 5.
