Boys move top after recording 11-try rout

Batley Boys ran in 11 tries as they earned a 62-10 victory over Heworth to move top of Yorkshire Men's League Division One .

Heworth scored early points but Dan Scales, Gav Davies, Sean Whittaker and Nathan Williams set the platform for Aaron James to score.

Hooker Ryan Crossley broke from 40 metres out to cross after great support from Scales and Adam Bingham before winger Robbie Bingham darted over in the corner.

Heworth replied with a second try but Boys’ man of the match Jay-Jay Price crossed as his side led 22-10 at half-time.

Full-back Mark Kitchingman, Nathan Lumb, Callum Broadhurst and Phil Heath, playing his first game in 18 months following injury, set the platform for the Boys to add seven further tries.

James claimed his second, Josh Whitehead crossed and Price added two more to complete his hat-trick.

Top tackler was Ryan Crossley followed by Davies and James as they kept Heworth scoreless in the second half.

Adam Bingham scored a try, taking his tally to 22 points, as he also landed nine goals in an impressive display.

Dec Casey and Joe O’Hanlon crossed to complete the scoring as Batley moved a point clear of Bentley at the top of the table.

Man of the match was Price followed by Adam Bingham and James.
