Batley seal promotion to Bradford Premier

Batley secured an eight-wicket win over Undercliffe last Saturday to clinch the Championship A title and secure promotion.

They can look forward to games against Pudsey St Lawrence, who have qualified for the first Yorkshire Premier League Championship final in Abu Dhabi, where they will meet Wakefield Thornes on October 27.

Muhammad Tahir claimed 4-6 as Undercliffe were bowled out for 109 and was unbeaten on 27 as his side secured victory, with Aqeel Mukhtar hitting 50 not out.

Second-placed Yeadon saw their season end on a disappointing note as they were bowled out for just 90 at Baildon and lost by six wickets.

Ossett finish third despite suffering a 68-run defeat to Saltaire, who said goodbye to the Bradford League on a high note.

Charles Orme (4-35) and Harvey Anderson (4-36) shone for Ossett as Saltaire were bowled out for 140 but Adeel Ashraf (5-24) and Mohammed Munir (5-30) then bowled the home side out for 72.

Nick Kaye’s unbeaten 75 enabled Birstall to end with a five-wicket win at Liversedge.

Birstall chased down Liversedge’s 181-6 which included 51 from Paul Marlow.

Championship B champions Townville rounded off their impressive campaign with an emphatic 181-run win over Spen Victoria in which talented all-rounder Jack Hughes scored a superb 121.

Hughes took his tally for the season to 941 and was well supported by the league’s leading runscorer Jonathan Booth (67) as his side declared on 274-9 after 45 overs.

Spen were never in the hunt as Conor Harvey (5-32) and Hughes (3-1) helped dismiss them for just 93.

Bankfoot piled up 320 on their way to a 155-run victory over Hartshead Moor.

Nahim Ashraf (130) and Shoukat Ali (97) shared a fourth-wicket stand of 226, despite the efforts of former Yorkshire star Richard Pyrah (6.78).

Pyrah hit 97 in reply but Hartshead were dismissed for 165.

Stephen Bland made an unbeaten 92 as Hopton Mills scored 189 on their way to a 32-run win over Brighouse.

Captain Sunny Matharu took 4-72 for Brighouse who made 157 in reply.

Asad Mahmood top scored with 44 as Richard Myers (3-16) and Philip Scott (3-36) shared the bowling honours for Mills.

Gomersal earned a six-wicket win over Carlton as captain Graham Hilton (51), Arsaam Malik (47) and Jonathan Boynton (43) helped them chase down their opponents’ score of 186-8 with 17.5 overs to spare.
