Batley lead way after extending winning run

Liversedge slipped to a five-wicket defeat against Yeadon, who are third after recording a third win of the season.

Alan Sumner led the way with 47 but Liversedge were restricted to 173-9 in the face of good bowling from Michael Hunter (3-42) and Oliver Halliday (3-44).

Opener Jake Wray (53) and the experienced Damon Gormley (48no) helped Yeadon overhaul Liversedge’s total with five wickets in hand.

Birstall are one of four clubs still seeking their first win after suffering a one-wicket defeat in a nail-biting finish against Hunslet Nelson.

Alexander Debs (59) and Nick Kaye (52no) helped take Birstall to 194-8, but Nelson timed their run chase well and won with an over to spare thanks to the efforts of Christopher Anderson, who top scored with 65, Andrew McIntosh (44) and Suleman Mohammed (33no).

Kamran Khan (3-19) and Debs (3-55) tried their hardest but Birstall were pipped at the post, although there are still three teams below them.

Ossett are one of those sides after they also suffered a third straight defeat at the hands of fourth placed Undercliffe.

Experienced left-armer Craig Wiseman delivered a match-winning performance as Undercliffe secured an eight-run win over 10-man Ossett.

Toby Thorpe (81), Gulsheraz Ahmed (60) and Michael Loubser (33) helped Undercliffe post 225-8, which earned them maximum batting points despite the best efforts of Khalid Usman (5-56).

Undercliffe wrapped up a 20-point success by claiming the last Ossett wicket with one ball to spare after the visitors had made a brave bid to secure their first success of the season.

Khalid Usman (55), Shabir Rashid (44),Tamoor Saghir (33) and Javid Umarji (31) led the way for Ossett but Wiseman claimed 5-72 and was supported by young spinner Amir Hussain (3-55) to complete Undercliffe’s second win of the season.
