Heavy Woollen trio in Yorkshire squad

HEAVY Woollen cricketers Andrew Gale, Richard Pyrah and Iain Wardlaw have been selected in Yorkshire’s 13-man squad for tomorrow’s opening County Championship Division Two against Kent at Headingley.

Captain Gale, from Cleckheaton, will aim to guide Yorkshire to promotion this season, while Dewsbury all-rounder Pyrah is also likely to play a key role for the Tykes this summer.

Former Hartshead Moor opening bowler Wardlaw, who plays for Bradford League Division One side Cleckheaton, has impressed in training during the winter and also shone on the recent tour to Barbados and could be in line to make his County Championship debut.

New Yorkshire coach Jason Gillespie has described selecting the team as the ‘hardest selection he has ever had’.
