Liversedge slipped to a 4-1 defeat at home to Handsworth Parramore in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division last Saturday.

Sedge had new goalkeeper Dayle Coleing making his debut and he earned praise despite the defeat.

The home side made a superb start and led after two minutes when Coleing came out to gather a cross and launched the ball downfield, releasing Steve Wales, who poked the ball home for his eighth goal of the season.

Coleing produced an excellent save to preserve his side’s lead but Handsworth drew level as Alex Moxam slotted home despite protests he had scored from an offside position.

Vaughan Redford was denied by the Handsworth goalkeeper, while it took desperate Sedge defending and a last ditch tackle from Tom Brook to keep it level at half-time.

Handsworth went ahead straight from kick off with a smart volley from Jon Froggatt.

Connor Smythe then made it 3-1, when he produced a decent finish from the edge of the area after 58 minutes.

The Handsworth goalkeeper produced another smart finish, while Joe Walton saw a header cleared off the line before Parramore broke and Froggatt scored his second.

Walton again went close following Liversedge’s best move of the second half but they were unable to get back into the game as Handsworth took the spoils.
