Chippendale on target in Palestino win

Palestino moved four points clear at the top of the Spen Valley League Premier Division thanks to a 1-0 win over Athletico last Saturday as Luke Chippendale scored the only goal of the game.

Saad Abbas, Abdul Tanvir and Shoaib Javed were on target for Girlington but they suffered a 4-3 defeat at home to Savile United, who sealed victory through a brace by Abdul Karim Mahmood plus further goals from Faisal Adam and Shabaz Patel.

George Healey have already wrapped up the Division One title but have their sights set on going the entire season unbeaten.

They beat Savile Town 6-0 with goals from Reece Scholes (two), Matty Parkinson, Olly Mitchell, Lewis Boddy and Simy Moore.

Awab Ahmed struck a brace in Inter Batley’s 4-2 defeat to Dewsbury West Side Reserves, who sealed victory through Shoail Zaman (two), Arbaaz Khan and Arsalan Shahid, while goals from Ismail Lunat, Huzaifah Lunat and Jaz Qadri earned Norfolk a 3-2 win over Marsh, despite Nathan Clarke scoring twice for the visitors.

Rob Smith and Jack Smith were on target but couldn’t prevent Dewsbury Rangers losing 5-2 to Leeds Independent in Yorkshire Amateur Division One. Batelians lost 8-0 at Gildersome Spurs, while Norristhorpe beat Thornesians Reserves 4-0 in Division Three.

Lewis Holliday opened the scoring for Norristhorpe Reserves but they went on to lose 5-1 at Drighlington in Division Four, while Jerry Sanderson struck a consolation in Batelians Reserves’ 3-1 defeat at Leeds City OB.

Wakefield League Premier Division title chasers Crackenedge and Crown Gawthorpe both dropped vital points last Saturday.

Crackenedge suffered a 3-2 defeat away to Eastmoor but leaders Crown were unable to take full advantage as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Halton Moor.

Fox and Hounds earned a 5-0 win over Henry Boons and are two points clear of New Pot Oil at the top of Division Two.

Fox and Hounds have played two games more than their title rivals.
