Morrison’s side were unfortunate to go in at half-time trailing 10-8 after they had initially taken an 8-0 lead.

Morrison said: “In the first half we could have gone ahead more than we did. Unfortunately, we went in at half time behind after two tries from kicks and lucky bounces, but overall you can’t knock the effort of the boys.

“The win was there for us. We just didn’t get enough ball and didn’t complete our sets in the second half.

“Even the losses we had before Bradford we were defending well and the score lines don’t reflect the effort the boys put in.

“We have been putting the effort in, but we just haven’t been hanging onto the ball. We defended seven sets in a row (against Halifax) and came out and scored down the other end, which shows the character of the boys.

“At Bradford we made 360 plus tackles and only missed five and last week was the same putting in 330 tackles and only missing four for the whole game.”

Morrison also revealed injuries again ruled out several key players, although he is hoping some will return to face Batley on Sunday.

Morrison added: “We were missing seven men, a lot of the middle boys and hopefully we will get some of them back.

“Halifax are virtually a full-time team, pushing for the top four, with a lot of Super League players and to have seven out that’s half your team.

“In the last few weeks we have had a consistent side and got some good victories, but when half your side is missing it’s like chopping a leg off, so it is going to take its toll.

“I think that showed in the last 20 minutes where they were able to get on a roll and make it pay.

“Some of our boys, who haven’t played for a couple of weeks, got a bit tired. Saying that they did a great job and worked hard for each other.”

“With the ball we need a bit more cohesion and break teams down, which we did last week, but with the number of changes this week it takes its toll and it takes a while to get everyone on the same path.”
