Morrison praise for Rams' spirited effort

The Rams were handily placed going into the final quarter but were hampered when they ended the game with 10 men, which allowed Town to launch a fight back.

Town fought back from 22-8 down to lead 34-24 before Paul Sykes was also yellow carded for dissent in the final minute.

Commenting on his side’s effort, Morrison said: “When it was 12 against 13 we dominated them and managed to get a 14-point lead.

“We went down to 11 men and then 10 and they scored four tries and put 24 points past us in that period.

“It is tough to go up there at the best of times, but playing with two and three men down, you can’t do it.

“The players on the field worked their backsides off and I was really proud of them.”

Dewsbury remain fourth in the race for a Shield semi-final spot but Oldham have drawn level on 18 points and they are both five points above the relegation zone with five matches to play.

The Rams travel to second placed Halifax in their third Shield match this Sunday before a mouthwatering Bank Holiday Monday clash at home to Bradford Bulls.

Dewsbury then enter September with three very winnable matches as they host bottom side Whitehaven, travel to third placed Sheffield and end the league stage at home to top four rivals Oldham.

Morrison added: “We’ve got to play Oldham and Whitehaven and if we win those and things go the way they should, we will still be in fourth spot.”
