Captain’s haul steers Mount to win

MOUNT captain Hassan Ji Patel claimed career best figures of 7-19 to guide his side to a comprehensive victory in Huddersfield Central League Section B last Saturday.

Hassan’s fine haul helped Mount dismiss Horbury for just 45 in reply to their 167-9, which had seen Imran Rawat (45) and Usama Sacha (28) impress.

Mount seconds gained their first win of the season last Saturday as 17-year-old Suleman Rawat made 79 and was well supported by Gulam Badat (28no) as they hit 167-9 against Horbury Bridge B, who were bowled out for 134 in reply with I Bikkah claiming 3-25.

Mount progressed to the first round of the Allsop Cup on Sunday when they defeated local rivals Gawthorpe St Mary’s in the first match between the sides in almost 20 years.

T Hemmingway top scored with 55 as Gawthorpe were bowled out for 144, with Hassan Ji Patel (4-28) continuing his fine form.

Mount made a shaky start in reply and were 22-3, with star man Sacha run out, before Abdul Ravat (64no) and some big hitting by captin Patel (64no) saw Mount home by seven wickets.

Mount Under-9s hold their first outdoor practice session on Sunday (10am) when anyone wishing to join can turn up to Halifax Road.

Mount’s senior practice is every Wednesday from 7.30pm.
