Boys stay on course for title

Batley Boys 68

Kinsley Raiders 14

BATLEY Boys maintained their challenge for the Yorkshire League Division Two title with an emphatic victory over Kinsley Raiders.

Kinsley have been a bogey side to the Boys over the years but it didn’t take long for Batley to begin their festival of tries, the first of which came from Aron James.

Silly mistakes by Batley gave Kinsley a chance to hit back but their response was short lived.

Matthew Sheridan made his debut in the open age side and didn’t look out of place, showing he has the potential for a great future in the team.

Batley’s tries came from Bingham, Mack, Sheridan, Wilson, Lister, Hall, Payne, Dransfield, James and Kitchenman as they eased to success.

Man-of-the-match went to Kevin Hall, closely followed by Bingham and James.

The Boys lie third in the second division table, a point behind local rivals Dewsbury Celtic with three games in hand and seven adrift of leaders York Acorn A with four games in hand as the season hots up.
