DEWSBURY MOOR
THE Under-14s reached the quarter-final of the X Blades National Cup with a great win against a high-quality Orrell St James side.
Orrell took the lead after precision passing.
Moor responded when Nathan Lowther dummied and went over by the posts, Jacob Flathers converted.
Dewsbury then got on top. Excellent pressure saw the ball moved wide and Jordan Foster showed good hands for Sam Tattersfield to score in the corner.
Just before half-time Orrell scored to reduce the interval deficit to 10-8.
Moor stretched their lead when a clever kick from Lowther was caught by Tattersfield to score.
Lowther then showed great skill to collect his second try, which Flathers converted.
Orrell hit back late on but Moor won 20-14.
MoM was Lowther, closely followed by Kyle Goodhind and Cameron Bruce in another top performance.
Moor visit Wigan St Patrick’s in the quarter-final, while this Sunday they meet Normanton in the Yorkshire League Cup quarter-final.
Moor Under-13s beat a good Headingley outfit 20-18.
The forwards dominated with Joel Moorhouse leading the the way with three tries and solid tackles.
